2006 E90 E91 E92 330d dieselpartikelfilter problem

Hi,

I'm from France sorry but I don't speak german. I would like to share my trouble and I'm looking for some testimonies about troubles with particulate filter (dpf) on 2006 330d engine (231 HP).

This is what happened with mine, particulate filter failed that caused a fire on engine bay, the issue was a total destruction of the car.



After dismantlement of the car by myself, you can see the engine bay after fire and the DPF after the problem.







An other owner of E91 330d 2006 had the same problem with exactly the same state of the dpf after fire.

sorry about that.

I have driven an e90 330d for 5 years. 120.000km, car was chip tuned but I had never had a problem with any parts of this car...

And I dont know someboy who had similar problems!

Hi Marcio!

Now this is really appalling to see. Would not know of anyone else who had this problem. I understand the 6-stroke is probably the best and most reliable engine BMW has ever built, both for petrol and diesel. And given that there are a lot of diesel bimmers out there in Europe, your case seems to be quite unique. If they had more fires than this, BMW certainly would have taken measures not to have continuing bad press. Remember, it took only a couple of Renaults Avantage to lock its passengers in for a major recall.

I am so sorry your bimmer experience had to end this way. You now have a probability of close to zero that this will happen again. You have to see the glass half full. People lose their bimmers also in really bad accidents where they sometimes also lose their lives. Thankfully, you were not hurt in this mess.
