  • Blue smoke at high rpm

I usually put 10w40 in it but I'm facing a quite strange problem where my car starts smoking blue on high rpms, while it doesn't smoke while cold at all.

So i was thinking about giving the engine a good flush to see if there is some sort of problem with oil getting out of the cylinders (high rpms = more oil pressure = more oil struggling to get out of the cylinder?) by adding 10w30 instead. I tought this makes sense with the known m54b30 piston oil ring problem.

Is there a chance the problem is this simple or am i stupid?

If anyone has any insight on what this might be it would be greatly appreciated.

in what country and climate are you driving the car? If it is not extremely hot climate you can add 10W30 and try if that helps. The recommended temperature range for 10W-30 engine oil is -13°F (-25°C) to 86°F (30°C). The first number in the oil grade indicates how thin the oil is when it's cold. The second number indicates the oil's viscosity at normal operating temperature, which is around 212°F (100°C). 10W-30 oil is a good choice for areas where the temperature doesn't rise above 86°F (30°C). In warmer climates, 10W-40 oil might be a better choice because it's thicker and can handle more heat. Blue smoke means oil burn. I would do a compression test on the running motor both wet and dry. Bad rings show up as lower compression when dry and improved with a little oil down the spark plug hole. Replaced CCV? https://www.e46zone.com/forum/topic/...ve-m54-engine/
